Mac MacBook Pro 15 in. OS X 10.9.5, iMovie11 9.0.9
Is it safe after importing movies into iMovie project window to delete the original source movie from my hard drive , also after dragging in images into the event library is it safe to delete the source images.
Thanks.

You can certainly delete the source video after importing. iMovie11 copies it to the iMovie Events file in you Movies Folder. Just think about importing from a camera. The video is still there after disconnecting the camera.

I can only drag photos into a Project, not the Event Library, but I can delete the original and it still shows in the Project.

In reference to MightyGem.....Except that at some point you have to empty the contents of the digital camera to make room to take new video. You're absolutely correct in that the files are still on the camera after importing them into iMovie or other app, and it's actually quite amazing how long those files actually stay on the camera. Even after I "delete" them, if I then hook my camera back up to my macbook - "Photos" finds video clips that I thought were long gone. That being said, however, eventually from deleting files from the camera they will be gone at some point. Another option would be to save them using the camera's flash drive storage option rather than the internal memory. It all boils down to how much you want your files backed up and archived. I explore this topic at some length in my recent (and first) thread.
