Mac Book Pro Retina (late 2013)
El Capitan and iTunes 12.3.1.23,
USB Super Drive CD

Went to import some Audio CD's and iTunes would only hang with the Beach Ball.
I had to force a quit with iTunes and when I looked in Finder the CD was found and the songs were displayed. Tried different Audio CD's and still the same thing.
Tried the CD's in a PC with the same iTunes version and they worked.
Tried a CD with some back up files (PDF) and was able to read them.
Songs on hard drive played.

Yes I am logged in to iTunes.
iTunes settings: Asked to import CD. Settings = MP3 at 192 kbps.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Ken

PS:
I tried to restore from an earlier version of iTunes (running on EL Capitan) from a Time Machine backup and iTunes would not restore with a message the it was required my El Capitan.

Thanks any way but found problem. iTunes was going out to the network looking for track names and album covers. As the CD's that I am importing are old classical Music they are not out their. So disabling this in preferences I can now import the CD's.
