Ah, back to my trusty OSX. Thanks

Is there a way to have the options menu automatically presented on startup/restart, w/o having to remember the option key each time? (Yeah, I know I'm lazy -- and forgetful! -- but I thought I'd ask!)

No, not without installing a boot menu. There are several you can look into, one that works well is: rEFind Make sure you backup before installing any boot manager.

How often are you changing the boot option? Unless you are switching often installing a boot manager probably isn't worth it. Set the machine too boot into whichever OS you use most often and use the option key method when you need to boot into the other partition.
