Combine nested folder files into single top level folder

hi-

i am new to mac. sorry if this is not the appropriate forum to ask.i have a single folder with many nested folders that contain pictures. is there a command prompt script or way i can take all the files in all the folders and place them in a single top level folder?

From the top-level folder, do a file search for the file type extension (jpg, for example). Then select all the hits, and either right-click and select new folder, or drag to a second window that has that top level folder open.
