Currently running Win 7 with Parallels 9. As usual, Parallels tells me I need the upgrade when OS is updated and they are not sure of what will happen with Win 10.
What used to be a program that I used to run a number of MS software on, I am now down to simply needing MS to run my tax prep software. I am thinking that I should perhaps just use Boot Camp and not worry about any virtual software. So my question is how much of my HD should i give over to bootcamp? and will there be a problem with running Win 7pro and then upgrading to Win 10?

No problem at all and make the BootCamp partition a minimum of 50GB if you have to put Office on it. 4GB is very low memory an increase would benefit and depending on precisely the model of your iMac make sure you get a 64bit version of Windows 7.

Upgrade Yosemite to X.10.4 as there werre important security and network updates.

I am thinking about installing WIN 10 utilizing Boot Camp Assistance. My question: If I buy the RETAIL version Win 10 Home, 64 bit from Best Buy, will it load on my Mac Book Pro? Or, should I buy the OEM version direct on USB Drive?

My Mac Book Pro 8.2, Intel Core i7, 2GHZ, Memory 4GB with "Sierra 10.12.

Buy the retail version from Best Buy but make sure it's the full install version not the upgrade version. If it's the upgrade version, instead go with the OEM version which is a full install. Also a bit of advice: You could use more memory in your MacBook Pro. You can limp along with 4 GB, but 8 GB will be better. (Boot Camp requires more memory.)

I installed Win 10 Home Edition from ISO file using Boot Camp to a 60Gb Partition. Just make sure you actually purchase it at download from the MS Store or you wont get a Authentication Key.
Installation was trouble free, runs really well.
