I was just reading some comments about the 10.10.4 update released today, and someone confirmed that Apple has opened up TRIM to be enabled on any 3rd party SSD.
Apple dumps discoveryd and fixes Photos and Mail bugs in OS X 10.10.4 | Ars Technica (http://arstechnica.com/apple/2015/06/apple-dumps-discoveryd-and-fixes-photos-and-mail-bugs-in-os-x-10-10-4/?comments=1&post=29298133)

I did some more digging and this had been seen recently in the betas of 10.10.4 and in El Capitan.
Third-party SSDs to get TRIM support in OS X El Capitan, possibly Yosemite 10.10.4 | 9to5Mac (http://9to5mac.com/2015/06/12/os-x-ssd-trim-support-el-capitan/)

It's not officially supported by Apple and is a "use at own risk" option, but it's there for those who rely on it.
