Your title states "Time Machine", so I'm assuming you wish to do the search for specific email messages and documents while in Time Machine mode in order to restore them? Finding a document while in Time Machine is easy since it will be listed in your documents folder. Finding and restoring email is a bit more complicated. Let us know what you wish to do and don't forget to include your Mac specs and what version of OS X you're running.
