I know there are several upgrades to the Mac OSX (including Mountain Lion and Mavericks). Is there a free, downloadable upgrade to my v10.7.5 version? Any glitches to be concerned over the upgrades?

Any advice is much appreciated.

What are you upgrading from? If you are already on 10.7.x, then it's just a software update. If Snow Leopard or earlier, then no.

Thanks. I have a desktop iMac running on Intel CPU and on OSX 10.7.5. I understand about software upgrades, so back to my question: should I upgrade? I do get regular Apple Updates and I wonder if this is the same thing. When I click on my "About This Mac" it shows I am still on v10.7.5.

If you wish to upgrade to Mountain Lion OS X.8, or Mavericks OS X.9, if your computer is compatible, click on the App Store in the Dock and select what you want. These two upgrades are free. Think you are confusing updates, security etc, with upgrades complete new operating systems.

*slaps forehead*. I thought you wanted to upgrade TO 10.7.5 from something else. Well that depends on which exact model/year iMac you have. Mountain Lion and Mavericks won't run on the earlier Intel ones.

Or are you looking for another point update to Lion, like a 10.7.6? There aren't any more, nor will there be at this point. Whatever Software Update has available is what there is.

So did I.;) That's exactly the way the thread title reads.

Mountain Lion (10.8) is not free...Mavericks (10.9) is free. You need to check (or provide) your computer specs to know if your computer can run Mavericks.

Just the normal ones with any OS upgrade. If you have older apps...you need to be sure they are compatible with the newer OS version. Same thing if you use other hardware with your computer (printers, scanners, iPhone, iPad, etc.).

Sorry Nick.

Keep forgetting ML was free when I purchased my iMac.

Sorry OP ML is $20.00.

Free ML was certainly a good deal:)...but then you were sort of entitled to it! Since you probably purchased your iMac at an OS transition time.

I was mostly posting in reference to my experience with ML...which was I purchased it from the Mac App Store for $20 (or whatever price it was).;)
