Apple TV not working

My movies work on the Mac computer but on the apple TV (TV Screen) I only get my menu and the file name when I ask it to open it hangs

Are these movies purchased from iTunes? Are they purchased using the same account you're using for Apple TV?

No these are movies from Wonder Share Video Converter I've been watching movies for the last 6 months no problems

Here are a few questions that might help pin things down a bit:

1. Are the movies which do not work ones that have worked previously or ones that were recently encoded that have never worked? If they have never worked check to make sure they have been encoded with the correct settings.

2. What exactly happens when they do not work?
