I got into a discussion with a guy on another (non-Mac) forum about how Macs are not PCs (PC being IBM PC) regardless of the fact that new ones use x86 chips.

This got me thinking, just what is unique about Mac hardware? What makes it different other than the fact that OSX runs on it and Windows won't? Am I wrong to call an IntelMac something other than a PC?

PC often means 'Personal Computer." Therefore, Windows Machines, Macintoshes, Linux Computers, Amiga Computers, and other devices are "PC's."

I guess that a description of a Macintosh would be, "an Apple-branded PC."
