• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I'm working on a movie and I want to start off with some video, then transition into some still pictures. My problem is that when I import the pictures from iphoto they seem to lose quite a bit of their sharpness.

The pics are either 1600X1200 jpgs or 3072X2040 jpgs.

Is there anything I can do to not lose the picture quality?

Thanks!

I recently played with importing such large pictures in to iMovie 6 and didn't notice the problem. I'll have to look tonight. I don't have a real answer, but...

Perhaps pre-sizing them to some smaller size might help. I suggest this because maybe iPhoto or whatever will do a better job than iMovie.

Another thing, try a test render to see what the real results will be. Remember that the more compression you place on your video, the less sharpness and more pixelation you'll get.
