My Passport for Mac - recover overwritten backup

Please advise - I backed up my MacBook Pro for one user account and then overwrote it by backing up a different user ... any way to recover the backup for user1? My Passport only shows info on the second user's backup. Please HELP!!!!

Sad to hear your story, but since you have overwritten your backup, that means you still have the original.
Or am I missing something in your post ?
Or have you also overwritten your MacBook Pro ?
Not clear to me at this stage.

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, the originals were deleted/overwritten (?) when I re-installed the OS and are not on my MacBook Pro. I thought that both users' data was backed up and was going to re-install all from "My Passport" hd.

Then I believe you have lost your files.
I am not aware of any commercial tools that can recover files that have already been overwritten.
There are companies who have the tools to do so, but it will be very ( and I mean very ) expensive.

I agree with member McBie. Once you've overwritten files, there's no recovery software that can get back the original. It can probably be done by a Data Recovery Specialist company but will likely be very expensive.

Yep all gone. And by expensive read in the thousands $$$.
