how long does a router last?

i'm now on my 3rd belkin wireless router in 15months. i'm running
three macs on tiger, and a pc on xp. what seems to happen is that
you hook them up and they run ok. then gradually they start to lose
the internet connection until it becomes really frequent.

they go for weeks then it ends up losing the net every 20 minutes or so
as soon as you reboot the router the connection returns.

i'm on 10.4.4 - does anyone have similar experience?

have i stuck with belkin too long? are belkin c..p? why do thyey go
off line constantly?

have heard this said before that they could be the cause

but why would this only happen gradually because thats the problem
the router works for a while then deteriorates?
