Given Jaguar's new ownership, shouldn't be much of a surprise.

Think it had to do with the building's shape, kind of concave. Focused more light. Assuming it's true and not just bad plastic.

I'm with Cradom on this one. It's more due to the building's shape. Think concave mirror and its ability to focus light into a small spot. With the right light and mirror you can easily start fires with sunlight. Focus the light on a piece of plastic long enough, I can easily see it melting.

Fresnel lenses can cook food and melt lead when used right. Every "prepper" worth his salt has a half dozen in various sizes stashed around. This doesn't surprise me at all.

Not the same as a mirror, but similar principals of focused energy.

Yep. You get it from the left, the right and the middle, all focused on the same point.

I've seen glass buildings stupidly situated relative to expressways causing reflections that blind drivers going 20mph over the speed limit. But I've never heard of this one before.
