Can't get hash tag on MBPr running Ubuntu 13-04

[SOLVED]Can't get hash tag on MBPr running Ubuntu 13-04

Whilst Alt + 3 delivers a hash tag in OSX it doesn't work in Ubuntu (it just gives a very small 3 like this ³ Using the right Alt key and 3 gives the same character.
I have a UK keyboard map and wonder if this is something to do with it.
Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Ah! Apparently you change the keyboard to English UK(Macintosh) and alt 3 gives the hash sign.
see ##### lol

Lol, yes, though I'm not sure why that keyboard wasn't selected by default. Nevermind, it's fixed now.
I've tried to mark it solved but without success.
