Our 2 new Imac's arrived yesterday, now off to the local store for data transfer and home for use. Our current system is I have a Imac in my office upstairs running directly off of u verse and the wife's laptop downstairs off of wifi. Any issues I should be looking into? I did purchase an "airport" once yet used it for a short while and then the laptop used the signal from the AT&T box? The u verse comes into my office on a dedicated line. I am not sure of what has an effect on what so advice please.

As long as everything is working you should be fine. If the UVerse is on a physical line vice wireless, you're fine. I'd check to see if the WiFi from the AT&T router has any kind of security set up and if not configure some. At least something to keep the neighbors for downloading porn and 3AM on you connection if nothing else.

The U-Verse is on a dedicated line, the box is on my desk and my Mac is plugged into it directly. the signal is password protected so no one has access except the wife. I can see my neighbors wi-fi signals with the padlocks in the 'lock' position. Thanks for the response.

You might want to consider some sort of Wireless Encryption. You can use WEP, WPA or WPA-2 depending on what the AT&T box allows. WPA and WPA-2 are better security than WEP, but WEP is better than nothing. This encryption helps safeguard someone outside from cracking your password to gain access to you network and simply adds an additional layer of security.

Not required, just something to consider.
