I'm about to upgrade my desktop from my imac 5,1 which has firewire 400 to the new mac desktop which has 2 thunderbolt ports. Can anyone suggest the quickest 1 step transfer that can be achieved? I think I need to buy a 400/800 firewire adapter and an 800/Thunderbolt connection. Does that sound about right or can someone offer some advice or a new method. I have about 140 GB to transfer.

Any advice gratefully received!

Thanks,
Simon

If you have a time machine backup to an external drive you can do the transfer that way, even if its a uSB drive
