Lost photos after sync iPhone 5 to iPhoto

Hi, yesterday I uploaded all the photos from my iPhone 5 to iPhotos, ca. 3'000, after it asked if I wanted to delete those on the phone I clicked yes, midway through deleting them iPhoto stopped responding. So I quit and reopened iPhoto to find no new photo and only ca. 1'000 on the phone. Where are the others? Can I get them back?

Look in your photo stream and if they all are still in there, import them into iPhoto from photo stream.
If not, you could restore the photos from your iPhone backup onto your phone.
