Isolating a figure in a photo

Do I have anything within iphoto that allows me to isolate and figure and make the background transparent?

Or what's the cheapest option to achieve this from the App store?

"Cheap" should not really be your concern for an operation like that. "Good" would be much more important.

There's nothing in iPhoto for anything like that, that's not really what it's designed to do.

You might look at Pixelmator ($15), but I'd also suggest you look at Photoshop Elements 11 (~$100) if you need to do this sort of thing regularly. It's likely to be FAR superior to Pixelmator in this regard.

Cheap is fine ... I'm just giving people proof of concept ideas for posters rather than designing things for publishing/printing
