Hello

I have a early 2012 macbook pro 2.8 Ghz intel core i7
currently running OSX 10.8.1 Mountain Lion

I used a 1TB usb hdd (mac encrypted) to use for time machine.
It gave me trouble so i formatted it a while back and didnt have the time to use
it with time machine ever since.

Today i tried but when inserting the usb it only shows up in disk utility, but i can not format or unmount or do anything.

I've tried some things through terminal but no succes.

any ideas?

What happens when you use the partition tab and try set it up with a single partition?

needs partitioning with single apple partition. Could be a partition table issue, but if it's encrypted, that would explain the access issues

@halo200, i cant do anything at the partition tab.

@Robert: it is just set up as one disk.. not partitioned in various partitions.
and it is not encrypted, it was before. and if it was encrypted mac osx is supposed to prompt a passwordfield like it did before i guess.

maybe use linux to fix this? i just want to reformat the drive now
