I have a JVC camcorder model GR-D244U. I am using a firewire to connect the device the problem is my Mac Book Pro does not detect the JVC recorder. I have gone to About this Mac> more Info> Firewire but I don't see the device. What could be the problem. please help solve this problem. I have footage of my family members that has passed away and I would like to keep these memories on my computer.

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Reboot and run Repair Permissions in Disk Utility and try again. This is Firewire 400/400 or 800/800? Was it necessary to instal JVC software for drivers?

This is a 800 firewire. There are no software for the Mac only PC. I tried searching to find any drivers for the firewire but could not find any. Would I need to have someone from the Mac Store look at It?

You shouldn't need any drivers for it to work. Have you tried another cable or connecting to another computer?
