I am going to use my old G5 as a web server. It is running 10.5. Attached to my WFI are two computers running Lion. I need a program to help protect the server and my two computers from being hacked. Any suggestions?

Your Macs all come with a built-in Firewall (System Prefs > Security & Privacy > Firewall) that you can utilize. That will provide some protection.

But, ultimately, to minimize your risk, you should put the G5 into a DMZ. This will limit any exposure to the outside world to it, and it only.

Your Mac's Specs

And as long as your network has a secure password, and the router has been updated with an admin password that is not the default then you should be fine.

As long as you keep 10.5 on the G5 up to date you are also OK, most web server attacks are because of default or easily guessed admin accounts.

The root user is also disabled by default, making a root attack difficult

Your router should not have the SSH port open (port 22), that's a favorite hacker doorway
