Some new pieces...

Hullo,

Recently finished 2 more new pictures and soon to have another one finished. They are actually Christmas presents for family, depicting their favourite things! Being unemployed and all, I didn't have much money to splash out on presents so naturally I took to what I could do. I have them all printed off nicely and framed so, well thought I'd share the results here too:

and

http://www.lilserenity.com/code/display_content.php?id=60&datepivot=-1&count=5&nepr=1

Again both were done on my PowerBook G4, Wacom Intuos 3 tablet and Painter IX.

Aww, thanks for all the sweet comments, they have taken some time to do as I have been so , busy, prepping for interviews and going to them, finding more jobs and applying, working on my book project, and probably some otehr things that have managed to escape me right now.

Thanks again :flower: I should have another one to share by the end of the day!

Good luck with the job search...I know it's not easy at the moment to find a good one, not just in the UK, but all over Europe.

Thanks again, it does mean a lot to me. I am fortunate to have 3 interviews this week, 2 of them I would really really want to do.. all I can do is my best; and make me indispensible in their eyes!

Well, I'm not particularly wanting to be in the IT field work wise. My work at the Apple Centre was really a case of right place right time; but I couldn't have done it forever... I prefer to keep my hobbies and pastimes just that.

However; one area that I am wanting to work in related to my love of the outdoors and getting out and about is in planning, As in town planning etc.; my degree is in Geography (BA, graduated with a 2.1), and development and so forth. That is one area where my degree trained me in, taught me about and I actively enjoy.

2 of the jobs I am going for this week are in planning, one of them is a Snr. Tech Officer post, which whilst still in planning policy is a bit more indoorsy, doing the techy stuff on the computers to do with planning like a lot of GIS, setting up presentations for planning committee meetings in PowerPoint and so forth. i'd still love to do that but prefer the hands on Trainee Planning Officer role :flower:

As for the pictures, well, art has been a passion of mine since I was little, it's great fun doing them on my Mac and Painter :) Like having the real materials without all the cost and the inevitable mess.

Though sometimes there is nothing like getting your elbows and tip of your nosed daubed in real paint!

As an example though, this is how much of my work begins - as a pencil sketch done in Painter which is then painted over and eventually the pencil sketch layer removed once the paint layer has come sufficiently far not to need it.

This is my current project, of Cuckmere Haven, East Sussex, England (about 20 miles from here): http://tinyurl.com/9ej3g

The sketch is at:

As you can see - some way to go yet!

I'm not sure when the Intuos3 came out but it's not much different from the Intuos 2 except it has some buttons on the left-hand and right-hand side (not the 4x5" model) - which personally I never use, I guess everyone has their own style.

That said, it's as good as the Intuos 2 and feels as rugged too, certainly a massive improvement on the Graphire 2 which I had for some time, but cut my teeth on.

When I finally get a widescreen TFT; I may consider Wacom's new 16:10 tablet. For now though, the Sony Trintron 17" monitor that I have had for some years is still ticking over, though I expect the 75Hz refresh rate is not doing me much good!! (not enough room for anything bigger)

Those are some great pictures, I just got the Wacom Graphire 10x7.

It came with Painter and Photoshop. I'm loving it so far.

Great work. :mac:

Thank you! I did not know there was a Graphire 10x7 tablet! The 4x5 size of the Intuos3 I have is small but perfect for what I need. I use a resolution of 1300x1000 (something near that, I forget, it's an odd one but the best my 17" CRT will do at 75Hz) and I am surprised at how accurate it remains.

When I finally find a job, and get a 24" Dell TFT for it (and the new place for it to live....) I am quite keen to learn more about the new 16:10 Intuos3 tablet.

Either way keep at it, it's tremendously fun, extremely captivating and the freedom is exhilerating. I will never ever regret buying Painter IX, simply the best programme I have ever bought for my Mac. Even better than Photoshop 3 way back when!
