Centurylink is telling me my airport (with time machine) will not work as an internet modem and they are trying to hit me with a 5.95 monthly charge for a modem. Is this the correct information?

It depends.... what "airport" are you talking about? Do you have an Airport Express or Airport Extreme base station? If so, you may need their modem since both of those are routers not modems.

I am pretty sure I have the express with time machine. I'm new to this sorry. I am not using the correct verbage. I believe they want to sell me a router...they said if I had a linksys broadband router it would probably work.

I have Century Link, and you will have to get a modem, but not the router. If you get the specs on what they are trying to lease you, you may be able to buy your own.

I have both a Time Capsule and Airport Express that I use as routers, but my modem came fom Centurytel (now Century Link).
