I recently bought an Epson V500 scanner, a refurb at that. Works great. Unfortunately, the cheapo's at Epson decided that a refurb should ship with a very old copy of Elements. Version 6 to be exact. I have no need for it, and if any of you regulars want it, just pm me your address and it's yours. I know it's not much, and doubt that anyone will actually take it, but just putting it out there!

I have the Epson V500 and have to agree that it works very well. Doesn't see as much use since we bought the Fujitsu page scanner.

Which one did you purchase? The V500 was dirt cheap- $100

Here's a quickie. One of the first shots I took with the old Nikon F3 w/35mm f2 Nikor using Fuji Film ASA 400. Unfortunately, the stupid photo "lab" exercised absolutely no caution with my negatives and scratched every single one of them. There are also burn marks on them in various shots. I'll never go back there again. It's GPS in New York right around the corner from Adorama.

Sold!

Guess I was wrong (as usual). Offer taken and Elements is gone, all for the price of a drink if I'm ever in the area of the taker! (I don't drink the cheap stuff, either!)

Actually I have scanned some photos with it and it does a pretty good job. Haven't tried (nor would I want to) my negatives.

What it excels at is double-sided scans of documents. We took several years of tax files and in very short order put them in folders on my NAS.

For that matter I took an old comic book (Jimmy Olsen) that was falling apart anyway, disassembled it and fed it through the scanner, and after using Preview to reassemble the file I have a very readable copy in iBooks on my iPad. ;)
