Hi!

I have some doubts at the moment about whether I should upgrade my beloved Macbook Unibody (5.1 model) or should I buy a complete new one.

I use frequently photoshop (files of up to 500 MB) and final cut pro and since a couple of months the old MacBook doesn't seem to pull it off anymore, so I have been thinking about replacing it.

Will the computer run again run faster if I upgrade from 2 to 8gbRAM-memory ? Or do I have to upgrade the 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor as well ?

Thank you very much for helping me out.

You will definitely see a big improvement going from 2 to 8GB of RAM. That may be enough to get a few more years out of your computer.

Short of buying a new one, a RAM upgrade would be the first thing I'd suggest -- it's a total no-loss scenario.

1. It's likely to give you a dramatic boost, and is inexpensive.

2. Even if you decide to sell the machine, an 8GB old Mac is worth more than a 2GB old Mac.
