Custom Equalizer Settings and Volume Control

So I adjusted the equalizer settings in itunes to fit with my bass heavy AIAIAI's. However how do I apply these settings when i'm listening to stuff off my ipod? How do I apply my custom audio balancer settings when i'm away from my computer?

My understanding is that equaliser settings applied to individual tracks are retained when the track is copied onto an iPod. I may be incorrect about this, but ISTR that being the case.
