Chaining a 23" Cinema Display from a MBP (running latest Lion OS) via a Lacie 2big Thunderbolt drive (in a RAID configuration) I'm noticing that the MBP runs hotter than when I just hook up the display straight to the laptop without the Lacie in the chain.

My question to the board: Does this sound good?

Right now I've got a mini-fan powered by USB cooling the port area of the MBP and that is a solution.

Meanwhile Lacie techs are telling me this temp rise is to be expected with the 2big in the chain. Can I believe them?

BTW recording audio to the 2big is a dream, whew, lightning plus! T/bolt rocks!!! And Mac got there first. Of course...

Way... way too many specs to list.
You're extending the PCIe bus, I'd expect added heat load.

I'd tend to agree. This is quite likely why the cables are so expensive (lots of shielding).

As long as nothing is burning, I wouldn't sweat it.
