Lorikeets are native to down under, and they can be mean s.o.b. if the mood takes them. In the sub-tropical area of the east coast where I live they absolutely abound, living off banksia and bottlebrush shrubs.
Noisy little devils too when a flock of fifty or so descend. To International tourists, if you have visited the Currumbin Bird Sanctuary on the Gold Coast, Queensland, majority of birds that enjoy the bread and honey are lorikeets.
