    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.

Anyone know of any good software for mac that will find and install the firmware patch to remove riplock from my mac dvd drive? I have seen some programs for windows that finds your drive and appropriate patch then does the install.

Take a look at this on line article: LINK Also take note of the link to the firmware page. You are aware that applying a firmware update to your DVD drive may "brick" the drive if something goes wrong?

No self running program that I know of. At one time there were quite a few sites that had firmware downloads for various drive makers. Some (not all) of the firmware updates dealt with riplock. Most purported to remove region coding.

Keep looking and digging around. Try the Tom's Hardware page for links and hints. You can usually dig back into his old articles and find lots of good stuff about firmware updates.
