How can I disabled the pop-up that asks if I want to unlock a file I haven't opened recently? This is such an annoyance.

It would help if you told us which version of OS X you're using? Since it's asking you about unlocking a file, you must be using Lion. If you haven't opened or edited the particular file in awhile, you will be asked about unlocking it. I don't know a way to disable it, however, I'm sure someone will find a work around and post it here or maybe in OS X Hints.

It's no more of an annoyance than accidentally overwriting an old version you wanted to save, then having to go into Time Machine to retrieve the file IMO.

It's literally one click, that replaces the one click you used to do called Save As, so again ... not seeing the problem.
