I have an iMac G4 800 MHz, whose combo drive died a few months ago. I have replaced it with a generic DVD-RW drive, and it works fine. However, I am missing one of the copper strips (more like the big copper square) that goes on the bottom of the drive. Is this copper square vital for the iMac/drive? If so, what do I do? I accidentally threw it out when taking out the old drive.

Thanks!

Well, I guess it was an RF shield. It's not essential.
