This needs to happen. i hate having to play Blu Rays through the PC. Also - and this is fairly off topic - but VLC really needs a reskin. Its getting rather dated.

Now if someone would just make a slim Blu-Ray internal SuperDrive to replace the standard one. That would be awesome!

It did:

I've been running the betas for a while and it needs some work in the speed department. Other than that, it's a solid upgrade. If you want to try it, you can get the RC here.

New MacBook Pro user here. About a month maybe. One of the first things I did was to install VLC. Just checked it and the version is 1.1.12 The Luggage (intel 64). Would you suggest installing the 2.0 version? And if so, how do I go about deleting the older version.

I've downloaded the vlc 2.0.0 rc1 intel 64 dmg file but have not done anything with it yet. Waiting for feed back from this forum.

Thanks.

P.S. Haven't had any problems with the old version.

You might as well wait - 2.0 should be made stable some time this week. With that, VLC should update itself.

Thanks. I think I'll do that. I'm assuming I'll get a notice when the upgrade is available. Or will I have to do it manuely?

Thanks

VLC should prompt you to upgrade. If not, you can do it manually in the VLC menu.

Deleted VLC 1.1.12. Installed VLC 2.0. Works like a champ. I'm using Lion. I recommend it to all.

I would buy that in a heartbeat.

When did that happen? What version?
Sorry, a little late here but that's the interface for VLC 2 (by default it's black but you can change the colours).

EDIT: VLC 2.0 has gone stable. Get it here.

Seems like a lot of folks are upgrading right now... the download is really chugging along slowly.

I'd be interested to see how well (if at all) Blu Ray playing works. Might have to invest in a B-R external.

Im gonna see how the BR works out on a PC with an in built drive - seeing as its my only way to watch them atm, with the PS3 dying and all.
