Now sure, where to place this.

I have a Yamaha 16x cd burner. I burned an audio cd at 16x (imation cdr). It plays okay on my home stereo, but when I play it in the car, it doesn't play. I burned another cdr at 8x. This disk now plays in the car. Is there a difference in each of the burn rate?

Yea, some drives can't read burns at a certain bit rate. I think its also related to quality as well... more time u take burning better quality of burn.

for a while Audio CDs couldnt be burned higher than 4x or it would leave off part of the tracks. Now you can burn faster, but 4-6x is still the safe speed, i doubt you want to burn that slow tho. i have a 24x burner and i havent had any problems with Audio CDs

Everything that has been said is tru:
1. lower speed better compatibility / quality
2. Quality / compatibility of the CD higher posible speeds
3. Car cd players are nagging things

Conclusion: if you can affor it buy good CD's (fujifilm maxel tdk ...)
and if you have the time burn at 1 speed

the slower you burn it the deeper the burns are on the disc (look at the burns from a 1x and 52x and you see a huge difference) which makes it easier for lasers to pick them
