Burning photos to disc for Sony HDD player

I have just returned from holiday in New Zealand with a bunch of stunning photos that I want to watch on my TV. I have tried just burning them to a DVD but my 5 yr old Sony HDD recorder says it can't read the disc.

Is there any way that I can burn photos to disc so that they will play on my HDD player?

would be really, really helpful.

Its a an iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3 wuth 4 Gb of memory.

It's running OSX 10.6.8

The DVD burning programme is Mac Disk Utility

I have Iphoto and Adobe Photoshop Elements 10
