Are you talking legal downloads?...because we don't discuss the "other kind" here at Mac-Forums.

The iTunes App store is the best place to download music, movies, books, pod casts, etc. All you need is an Apple ID and a credit card account. All legal.

The best way to legally download music, videos, books etc. is of course the Apple Store.

The best torrent client in my opinion is uTorrent. Real small application, doesn't take extra space or stuff like that. And it's simple and easy to use.
Click here for the "getting started" page of uTorrent

I do know that most of those are illegal. So I would avoid them. If I want music, I get it the right way, and go to iTunes or Pandora.com. If I want movies I go either to youtube, netflix, or just rent them at the video store.

All discussion of legality aside, my preference in client is in Transmission.

I looooove how people jump to conclusions and assume that torrent = illegal activity by default. By that logic, just the fact that someone owns a computer should prompt a response of "I'll help you with your Mac Mini, but only if you promise that you're not using it for piracy."

*eyeroll*

(oh...and for the record, Vuze is my fave...)

Maybe we should just give an answer to his question; and let iboostdaily decide what to do with the information, torrent clients and illegal activities.
For now I'd like to assume that he's talking about legal activities regarding torrents. I must say that torrents are a really easy way to share holiday-pictures or other media with my family living abroad. That could easily count in this case too.
And besides, I believe a lot of torrent users do so for legal activities. It's not that the entire population is pirating... Just a lot. Haha

I'd like to think that's true. While there are legal uses for torrents, the majority of torrent activity is illegal and has been for some time. Major software publishers, the RIAA, movie industry, etc, have long been active in trying to get most of the torrent sites that tolerate illegal activities shut down.

Most of them have moved off shore to avoid US legal action.

This is off topic but why? Eclipse is relatively small and there are mirrors all over the world. Seems like overkill for Eclipse. Did he give an explanation for that?

uTorrent for me. And there are plenty of legal torrents all over. Linux distros for one. And Vuze offers a host of legal torrents, as does Vodo.
