I know nothing about Mac's.

My cousin's Imac went through a house fire. I need to get the info off from the HDD if I can. I figured that the easiest wat to do it would be swaping out the HDD into another. Is there anywhere on the net I can get detailed instructions for doing this?
Is there a better way? Like getting an external HDD bay and transfering through USb or Firewire.

Thanks.

If you just want to get the data off it then you'll need an external case. Either USB or Firewire will work. If you want to swap the HDD into another iMac and continue to use it you can do that also. In either case you'll need to open up the damaged imac. The method for opening the original iMacs is slightly different from the later models. For the original tray-loading CD models try this link:http://www.djonmac.com/index.html; for the slot-load models try here: http://www.appletalk.com.au/forums/index.php?showtopic=436.
