problem removing windows

I want to remove windows and parallels from my macbook.
I uninstalled parallels without deleting the virtual machine or anything related to windows.

Do I need to put Parallels back on the machine first to remove windows?

I know I should have researched this before trying it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you uninstalled Parallels, it left the virtual machine intact. The VM should be located in your Documents folder under virtual machines. You can't miss it because it will be a very large file - at least several or more gigs in size. Just delete the entire virtual machine folder under documents.
