Keyboard Problems

Hi I thought someone could help me out, though it may just be a stupid question and I should be ashamed for asking it. I'm using an older Apple USB Keyboard M2452, its a purple one on my brand new iBook G4. Any Time I hit a key, it does a function instead of type the letter. Like if I was using Safari and I hit N it would open a new browser. how do I fix this?

I am hazarding a guess here, it sound like the Apple command key is sticky.Normally you would do an Apple command and the N key to open a new window.

I thought of that and both apple keys seem fine....
