When I set my mac up for auto config for the networksettings through the airport i get
192.168.1.102 or what ever the ip is

then 192.168.1.1 for the router

and 255.255.255.0 for the subnet

However i need to have a stic address

so i f i setup a static profile with dhp and manual address i cannot get any connectivity.

I have tried with and without the DNS but will not have it even after switching the airport on and off

Any suggestions

What is the range of IP's that are pooled for DHCP? You should be able to select an IP for manual addressing as long as it's not in the range of the DHCP server pool.
