• Welcome to the Off-Topic/Schweb's Lounge

In addition to the Mac-Forums Community Guidelines, there are a few things you should pay attention to while in The Lounge.

    Lounge Rules
    • If your post belongs in a different forum, please post it there.
    • While this area is for off-topic conversations, that doesn't mean that every conversation will be permitted. The moderators will, at their sole discretion, close or delete any threads which do not serve a beneficial purpose to the community.

Understand that while The Lounge is here as a place to relax and discuss random topics, that doesn't mean we will allow any topic. Topics which are inflammatory, hurtful, or otherwise clash with our Mac-Forums Community Guidelines will be removed.

Why is this part of the forum so underpopulated?

Usually when I am in a forum based website, like bungie.net, personal websites, bethesda forums, the "Off topic forum" is full of people and different threads and post. When I come here to Mac forums, the same threads are still up for almost two weeks now.

I feel that people only join to talk about macs, and to help other people with their problems. Maybe it is just me.

I spelled the title wrong. Sorry about that.

This forum is well organized and everyone try their best to keep the threads focussed to a specific topic.
That's exactly why I joined and stayed.
That's not to say that there are no " Off Topic " threads/possibilities.

Must say that the staff are running a tight ship here and that's how it should be.

My 2 cents.

Cheers ... McBie

Well being that is "Mac Forums", I feel that people join to talk about Macs. Maybe it's just me. :p

Yeah...that's a real shame that people join Mac-Forums to talk about their Macintosh computers & difficulties with them.;)

I don't think that folks join Mac-Foums to primarily talk about:

- their cars
- their girlfriends
- what they ate yesterday for lunch
- how big their feet are
- the last time they got a haircut
- the biggest "booger" they ever picked ;)

Although some of these topics do get discussed from time to time.:)

If you would like to see more "off-topic" discussions in "Schweb's Lounge"...be my guest...and start some threads (as long as they adhere to the Mac-Forums Community Guidelines).:)

Too many...
I think it's mostly because the effort to post something on in here that matches "anything goes here" is useless when there are other forums that people could contribute that one topic to. For example, I'm on a biking forum, multiple car forums, online organizational/meeting forums, market forums, design forums, multiple computer forums, and many more. I'd rather take the effort to place something in the correct forum than to waste time placing it in the "anything" thread(this goes for any forum) and not know what will happen. I only post things in this thread based on what I have been accustomed to people liking on this forum, or if I believe it will help/benefit someone in some way...you'll probably realize this after a while too.

Do you think that you have a chance at winning??;)

- Nick

I don't know which would be worse, to win . . . or lose.

Just don't expect me to be involved in judging, though I would be willing to serve on the prize committee. :) :p

Search through the history of this sub-forum and you will see many topics that may surprise you. Peaks and valleys my friend, ebb and flow. Some months are busier than others in here. I try to kick the gun-owners thread up here every so often, but I've been too busy to do much shooting or buying of shooting devices lately.

I cut my own hair the other day, with buzz clippers. Usually my wife cuts my hair, but she's been out of the country for a couple of weeks now, and I don't trust many other people to cut it as well as she does. Especially for what she charges!

I have to say, I did an o.k. job, looks almost even, actually! But I think that wearing a hat all day is likely why it's so good in my eyes. hmmm

Well, try one that has nothing to do with computers, iPods, iPads, etc. and see what happens.
