What OS are you running currently...OS 10.4, OS 10.5, OS 10.6?

The bottom line is (as with any OS upgrade)...you won't "lose" any applications or files (especially if you back them up first)...but what you might lose is application compatibility.

Thus...an application that is compatible with your computers current OS version...may not be compatible with Lion (OS 10.7). So it's always a great idea to check the compatibility of your apps. BEFORE upgrading.

- Nick

p.s. Just saw your computers specs. With a 27" iMac i3...I'm assuming you're running a version of OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard).

Are you good to go?...relative to your initial question

You basically have to check the compatibility of all your important apps. (and back things up if you desire) before upgrading to Lion. Otherwise go for it.:)

I'll second that. I've just done this, my specs are the same and everything is good so far.

As Nick advised, it's important to check the compatibility of your current applications to see if they're OK for Lion. Also keep in mind that if you're running any PPC coded apps, they will not work in Lion.

Also, run repair permissions and all that good stuff before you do so.

Hi,

Only app I had to remove and reload was ONYX, as has been said backup first then upgrade.

UPDATE: Update to OS Lion went flawlessly. I didnt have too much to update, but just some minor updates to the few applications that I had to do through the App store. Other than that, perfect.

That's the most ridiculous post ever. I mean, the OP invited ridicule. Aren't we here to help people? Give him what he asked for!

You would need to check the compatibility at source..look for the OS version and above that it is designed for and check out if there is an upgrade to meet 10.7.2 I guess in this instance.

Well, what programs are you not wanting to lose? I lost a few games and an app called TotalFinder (they updated it soon after). When you update there will be a folder in you user called incompatible or something. It moves Them all there.
