Thank you, kind Sir!

I was just about to commend you on your moon shot actually! Over what period of time were those shots taken? Which software did you use, if you don't mind me asking?

Taken over about 15 mins trying to get best exposure to bring out the detail. Processed in Photoshop CS5. Taken with Canon 55-250mm zoom lens. Have since borrowed my dads reflector telescope with camera attachment to try for a bigger image, but so far its been too cloudy and the moon has not reappeared yet.

Wow, you used a 55-200mm lens? That's fantastic!

I would love a telescope to take pictures with, but can't really afford one now having just bought an iMac ;). Plus I live in London, so not many stars out in these parts.

Still, great photo!

EDIT : @Sprool would it be possible to get a copy of that shot ??? I absolutely love it.
I had a camera set up looking through a telescope in 1986 when Halleys Comet was about and got awesome picture. Thats right only the one lol but they still use the image in the brochure for the school

I wish i still had it mate. I was 14 when i took it. I have moved that many time and now in the last 10yrs have kept copies of everything i have taken only bc of the digital age . . . . . Ill try looking p the school and see what i can can up with. Don't like my chances though :( We had to set it up and then waited for it to come into frame. . . .

I know this thread is not exactly swamped with entries, but would it not be more interesting to post a different theme up each month for the photograph contest? Winner of last months suggests theme for the next month...?

That's a pretty good idea, Sprool!

Who decides who the winner is, anyways?

Well iWhat is the one that usually makes this thread every month. I think you should probably run it by him.

I like the idea. Makes it seem more like a legit Photography forum. I know they do these kinds of things on some photography forums.

We can do a themed photo of the month thread. :)

If it's popular enough -- later on, we'll make it into a contest and let the winner choose the theme for the month. But for now, we'll see how it works.

I actually read about this a couple of weeks ago and am tempted to come down for it . . . though, honestly, the line "more than 100,000 visitors each year" makes me a little hesitant. I'm not much for large crowds. :P

It gets quite packed, no doubt about it.

A German beer drinking good time for those that like that sort of thing.

Last time I went was probably mid 70s.

The last actual one I went to was in Germany (Bavaria) in 1968. but, since my wife is German heritage and out of nostalgia on my part, I've been eyeing the nearby festivals lately . . .

Been talking about it for years; I might actually do it this year. :)

Um, did I miss s'thing? What was the photo of the month in the end? I sort of thought from the thread title that everyone posted photos and then the best one from the month would be chosen. Is that not the format?

No it's just the best photo that you took for September or whatever month it is for.
