I'm having a problem trying to share a folder on a peer to peer network using Windows 7 Ultimate and OSX 10.6.8. The share is on the 10.6.8 Machine and 8 Windows 7 PC's need to connect to it. No matter what I try I cannot get the Windows machines to connect to the Mac. If I try using another Mac running 10.6.8 I get the same results.
1) File Sharing is set up on the Mac.
2) The folder on the Mac is set as a share with the network user names added to the share.
3) SMB is set up correctly on the Mac.
4) The PC's and the Mac are on the same workgroup.
5) This is all being done over a LAN no WLAN
The PC's can see the Mac which I have to use as a file server, but they will not connect to the share.
• ie: when I type in \\162.168.x.x\shared folder name
I get a long long wait and an error message informing me that the machine can't connect to the share.
Any suggestions?
