Hey there folks!

I was just wondering if anyone's played with both version's of iMovie ('09 and '11).

I find '09 to be real frustrating and a chore to edit videos in and whilst looking at iMovie '11 it seemed like a pretty awesome upgrade!

I mostly would use the software for editing videos for my youtube channels. One is a vlog channel and the other would be a skit/parody channel (Think communitychannel)

Any advice given is taken with extreme gratitude!

Other than additional features and some audio upgrades...the actual editing experience is nearly identical between the two...

I'd say the same. I got '11 because of upgrades (speeding up video and slowing down) but '09 worked well for me otherwise.

Not trying to hijack this thread but, I'm also interested in how much better iMovie '11 is. But I'm interested in making drumming videos using audio taken from software such as Audacity and then mating it to video using iMovie. I have iMovie '09 and it works, ok, but are there enough improvements in '11 to make it worth upgrading for the stuff I'm interested in? Thanks

Mating it how...? You can snap/edit to beats with both 9 and 11....11 allows you to see wave forms below the video....you can adjust the volume at any point with this feature...amongst a few other things...I wouldn't say 11 is a game changer over 09...

In iMovie11 you get the Timeline feature, where you can add multiple audio tracks with full editing/volume control for each track. You can't do that with iMovie9.

Thanks MG.

I started reading allot about iMovie HD 6 vs '08 & '09 and how there seems to be quite allot of iM6 still. So I tried it out and sure enough, for my purposes, it's much easier to use. The user interface is much better. I can now sync the audio and video much faster and more accurately.
