- 2011 13' Macbook Pro i5
I just fixed a 2011 Macbook Pro that had a bad incident with a glass of water.
The Magsafe board was wet dried it off and there was no longer a short it works just fine for a running machine that had ~ 16 oz of water on it.
The kicker?
It's my Macbook. ha. I now know what a heart attack feels like.
Here was what happened before the glass was empty:
Step 1: Power button, my right hand was on it before the water touched the keyboard( My left hand was grasping, trying to grab the glass.)
Step 2:After the water hit the machine hit I was unplugging things, Power, USB mouse, audio.
Step 3: I jumped off my seat onto the bed across the room with a towel.
Step 4: Held mac upside down to ensure all initial water could not drain into it, then toweled it off.
Step 5: I let it stay off for about a Day and a half.
The best part? The mac fully shut off after part 4, meaning the first 4 steps all happened in less than ~5 secs. I literally jumped out of my seat.(I really wish we had an emergency key combo that does a full power off with no delay, "Click, off") Although fully sealed keyboards would be nice. Ha. Well the machine is dry and fine now.
I'm living but I think my Heart doc might need a call.
Ever have this happen to you?
