Greetings,
I have a particularly frustrating problem. My office has a mixed environment of Macs, Windows XP and Windows 7 machines, all connected to a Mac Mini with Snow Leopard Server. Obviously, the Macs backup effortlessly to the server via Time Machine, however I am having trouble getting the PCs to successfully perform scheduled backups to the server. Is there partitioning with specific ACL/POSIX permissions required? With XP, many times I receive a message saying I do not have the proper permissions. With 7 nothing happens. I can, however, do manual backups with little problems.
Why are the scheduled backups an issue? Has anyone had success in this configuration of mixed platforms? There is plenty online for backing up Macs to Windows servers, but very little the other way around.
