Office 2008 to Office 2011

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I have an Office question. I currently run Office 2008 for mac. I got it through a home use plan from work. It was a download, not a disc. My question is this, I want to purchase Office for mac 2011 through the same home use program. Will it automatically remove the 2008 edition when it downloads, or do I have to do something to prepare for the 2011 edition? Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

No, you'll need to remove 2008 beforehand. There is an uninstaller in the Office folder.

haha , actually its very funny.
i have genuine copy of 2008 installed on MBA, later i installed 2011 downloaded from internet without uninstalling 2008, now both co-exist on my MBA.
I did it when my MBA was on SL, and now its lion, still working well, i can chose 2008 or 2011 whichever i like.

Uninstalling 2008 prior to or after installing 2011 is optional. They will both operate together. However, you need to be aware that the document folders will be the same and that the Office recovery will be the same.
