Get Linspire (Formerly known as Lindows) it's just like Windows (runs windows programs, can use iPod with it, etc.) but stable... Haha. It's an oxymoron =)

I also like Ubuntu... but mainly because they'll send you free copies of it on CD - postage paid too!

I got 5 discs for x86 and 5 for PowerPC... they come with live discs and install discs, so even Linux newbies can try it out.

dude i have recently tryed a few Linux destros out. The one that seemed best for me was SuSE 9.3. It was the onlyone i found that had Java and FireFox already installed. Fedora Core 4 was good too but didnt have Java or FF

Sure it is free. You only have to pay for it if you want printed guides and a fancy box. There are a few non-GPL'd packages found on the retail DVD and not among the free downloads, but you can find them elsewhere for the most part.

Until Microsoft sued them....Microsoft ruins everything, Lindows was an awesome name.
