Hi Guys

So I've ordered my first mac and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival. While waiting for it to arrive I've started to organize my files ready to use with OSX.

I've spent a lot of time adding XMP tags to my photos using Windows Live Photo Gallery. So my question is if iPhoto will recognize theses tags and if I can continue to add more XMP tags using iPhoto.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I don't KNOW the answer for certain, but I *believe* that you will need to convert the XMP tags to IPTC before iPhoto will know what to do with them. This is because although XMP is an open format, it is not an open standard.

You have a couple of options here, I think: my understanding is that Picasa can read the tags correctly as-is, so you might opt to use that instead of iPhoto. Alternatively, you could use EXIFtool to convert the tags to IPTC metadata.

Here's a video that illustrates this technique:

Thanks chas. I'm at work now, but I'll check it out later.
